Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT)
Stay In Control, Even When the Skies Are Unpredictable
With Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I) being the number one accident statistic in General Avation, it is clear that most GA pilots need additional training to avoid upsets. Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) at Lloyd Aviation addresses that need. The ground and flight training will help you to understand why upsets and loss-of-control happen, how to avoid them, and then provide the opportunity to practice the new skills in a controlled environment to “LOC Proof” yourself.
The instructors at Lloyd Aviation have extensive experience in this area. They are able to present the information so you can absorb it, and maintain an comfortable environment for you while flying so that it is a fun learning experience.
Your UPRT experience begins with three hours of ground school going over the basic concepts of lift, energy management, flight control aerodynamics and behavior, stalls, and maneuvering flight. When the ground training is complete we move to the airplane where you apply what you have learned. Many of the things covered in flight will be things you have been taught to avoid and therefore probably make you uneasy. You will learn that several things you previously thought were dangerous are actually readily controllable and recoverable once you understand the science behind them. The length of the course is adjusted to meet your specific training requirements but usually covers two days and three flights.
